You're right, I was just pointing out what I was figuring out with how 2K's ratings system worked from what I tried to look up
-
Esa última parte para mí es la clave del proyecto: no hacer un clon de The Show, sino llevar una filosofía de ratings moderna a MLB 2K12. 🔥 MLB 2K12 Calculator Goal The idea is for the calculator to automatically update as many player attributes as possible using real statistics from recent seasons, mainly data from Baseball Savant. The philosophy is inspired by MLB The Show because we do not want to reduce a player's performance to a single number. We want to separate each tool and skill: contact vs right-handed and left-handed pitchers, power, vision, speed, stealing, reaction, range, arm strength, throwing accuracy, defense, etc. This way, each player keeps a unique and realistic profile. However, we are not copying The Show's ratings. We are taking that modern evaluation philosophy and adapting it to the system and specific attributes of MLB 2K12. Also, if there is not a reliable enough statistic to calculate a certain attribute, the tool will not invent values. It will keep the original roster value until we find a source or formula that we can properly justify. Final goal: modern statistics + MLB The Show-style rating philosophy + authentic MLB 2K12 behavior. For starters I do not think using The Show as a base will help build an accurate MLB 2K12 roster. The Show uses different weights for ratings, and MLB 2K12's calculations are different for OVR ratings, for example, and this is direct from the executable: Catcher: 25% defense, 75% offense First Base: 5% defense, 95% offense Second Base: 15% defense, 85% defense Third Base: 15% defense, 85% offense Shortstop: 20% defense, 80% offense Left Field: 5% defense, 95% offense Center Field: 20% defense, 80% offense Right Field: 10% defense, 90% offense That alone explains a lot of MLB 2K12's sometimes-weird OVR behavior. First-base and corner-outfield defense barely matters and catcher defense matters five times as much as first-base defense. Shortstop and center field are both 20%. That's all I got from my notes
